Former Enemies Walk for Middle East Peace

Breaking the Ice, a German nonprofit group, is sponsoring an unusual trek across the Sahara Desert to encourage dialogue and conflict resolution in the tumultuous Middle East region, reports the Associated Press.
Ten people who have experienced violence, and in some cases caused it—including Americans, Iraqis, Iranians, and Palestinians—are transporting an olive tree from Israel into Libya, where they hope to plant it.
