U.S. Muslim charities are finding it difficult to operate and distribute aid without raising concern from the U.S. Treasury Department about aiding terrorist groups in the Middle East, reports The Toledo Blade. KindHearts, in Toledo, started in 2002 after the government shut down the three largest Muslim charities in the United States. And while the charity says it tracks its donations to ensure that it has never aided terrorist groups, the government shut down the organization last month for alleged ties to the suspected terrorist group Hamas.
