CARNEGIE HALL RECEIVES $20-MILLION
March 3, 2006
New York financier Ronald O. Perelman has donated $20-million to endow education and arts programs at Carnegie Hall, reports The Wall Street Journal. In honor of his gift, the performance center has announced that it will name its main stage after Mr. Perelman, chairman and chief executive officer of MacAndrews and Forbes, a holding company whose portfolio includes Revlon cosmetics. One of the beneficiaries of the gift will be the American Roots Program, which introduces middle-school students to blues, jazz, gospel, and other forms of music.
