TEXAS GROUP SUED

February 24, 2006

The Texas state attorney general’s office is suing the Rural Development and Finance Corporation, a nonprofit organization that helps small businesses in San Antonio, over almost $1-million in unaccounted expenses, reports the East Texas Review. The lawsuit said it was questioning trips to resorts, salons, and water parks by employees, as well as missing records about nearly two-thirds of a $300,000 grant from the Houston Endowment. The lawsuit also seeks the removal of the company’s top executive and financial officers. Officials of the nonprofit group did not give their view of the charges in the article.
