CHARITY SUED
February 16, 2006
The Texas attorney general has sued a San Antonio nonprofit organization over allegations that its leaders used money for personal gain, reports the San Antonio Business Journal. The lawsuit alleges that the president and the chief financial officer of the Rural Development and Finance Corporation, which provides financial support to businesses or homebuyers in rural areas, misused about $1-million in funds. Neither the group’s president, Gloria Guerrero, or its chief financial officer, Maria Ayala, provided a comment for the article.
