SAMSUNG DONATION

February 7, 2006

The Samsung Group, a South Korean conglomerate that has faced several scandals, announced on Tuesday that it would donate more than $800-million to charity for “causing concern to the people,” reports the Associated Press. Company officials said $466-million would support a scholarship fund set up by Samsung and its subsidiaries and $362-million would be donated by the children of Lee Kun-hee, Samsung’s chairman. His children had been accused of not paying taxes; the article does not offer a response from the children.
