REJECTED DONATION
February 3, 2006
Kenyan government officials have rejected a New Zealand company’s offer to donate powdered dog food to help feed starving children in western Kenya, reports Reuters. Mighty Mix, which manufactures dog treats in New Zealand, offered to send 6,000 packets of the corn-based mixture, but a government spokesman, Alfred Mutua, dismissed the idea as insulting. “Kenyan kids are not so desperate as to eat dog food,” he said.
