NEW YORK SCHOOLS

February 2, 2006

New York will open 36 new middle and high schools in the next academic year, paid for with millions of dollars in donations from charities, foundations, and colleges, The New York Times reports. The schools, mostly located in the Bronx and Brooklyn, will have smaller than average class sizes aimed at improving academic performance. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation helped pay for the schools.
