GETTY BOARD MEMBER

January 31, 2006 | Read Time: 1 minute

Barbara Fleischman, an art collector who donated more than 300 works to the Getty Museum and made a personal loan to a former curator, Marion True, resigned from the museum’s board last week, reports the Los Angeles Times. Three days before the grand opening of Getty Villa, an antiquities museum that showcases many of the donations by Ms. Fleischman and her husband, Ms. Fleischman resigned from the board. The personal loan was revealed by the Getty Trust officials nine weeks earlier, eliciting calls for Ms. Fleischman’s removal. At the time, trust officials called the loan an obvious conflict of interest, according to the newspaper. Neither Ms. Fleischman nor the Getty gave a reason for her resignation.
