NONPROFIT FRAUD

January 26, 2006

Two Florida charities accused of misusing funds have agreed to pay $350,000 in restitution, reports the Sun-Sentinel. The Global Mindlink Foundation and Select International Donors, which were both led by president Denise Battista, allegedly spent the majority of the $2.2-million raised between 2000 and 2004 on perks for employees, the paper says. Ms. Battista has admitted no wrongdoing in the case, and her lawyer could not be reached for comment.
