AFRICA DOCUMENTARY

January 13, 2006

In a new documentary about Bob Geldof, the rock musician who organized the Live Aid concerts in 1985 and helped put together last year’s Live 8 event, he says that despite Africa’s deep-rooted poverty, AIDS pandemic, and corruption, he is hopeful that the continent can overcome its problems , reports The Washington Post. The six-part documentary, which was produced by the British Broadcasting Company, follows the former Boomtown Rats singer as he travels through African nations explaining their culture, societal ills, and what type of aid is needed to help them.
