LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT

January 10, 2006

Andris Pukke, the founder of a nonprofit credit-counseling group, AmeriDebt, this week agreed to pay up to $35-million to settle two lawsuits that accuse him of misleading his clients and charging exorbitant fees, reports The Washington Post. The settlement still has to win court approval. Mr. Pukke did not admit any wrongdoing as part of the agreement.
