Anne Bass, a trustee at the School of American Ballet, in New York, has rescinded a $1-million gift to the institution and resigned from the Board of Directors following a feud with Peter Martins, the director of the school and the associated New York City Ballet, reports The New York Observer. “I am no longer willing to support an institution that increasingly bears so little resemblance to the one that George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein bequeathed to their successors,” she said in her letter of resignation. Ms. Bass has given a total of $5-million during her 25 years as a board member at the school.
