GOVERNMENT ASKS FOR IRAQ DONATIONS
December 29, 2005
Few donors have contributed to an effort by the U.S. Agency for International Development to raise money to support development projects in Iraq, reports The Wall Street Journal. Contributors have given $1,500 to the Iraq Partnership so far, although officials with USAID and GlobalGiving, a nonprofit group that handles the program’s logistics and its Web site, say it is still too early to measure the success of the effort, which was started in September. The federal agency plans to develop similar programs for Haiti and other countries that have large numbers of expatriates in the United States.
