Bits: Democracy Collaborative Launches Community-Wealth.org

  • Community-Wealth.org, a new Web site created by the Democracy Collaborative at the University of Maryland, provides news, articles, and other information about economic-development organizations, financial institutions that specialize in neighborhood development, local land trusts, cooperatives, and nonprofit business ventures, as well as government efforts to create jobs and build stable local economies.   • A Webcast titled “The Future of Community Foundations” is available on the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Web site free until the end of September. Mark Kramer, managing director of the Foundation Strategy Group, made the 90-minute presentation at the Foundation for the Carolinas in July. To get there: Go to http://www.knightfdn.org.
