Taking Sides at the Supreme Court: Groups Submitting Views in Telemarketing Case

Following are nonprofit organizations, charity regulators, and others that have filed briefs in

support of the State of Illinois in the Supreme Court case, Ryan v. Telemarketing Associates:

  • AARP
  • Council of Better Business Bureaus and BBB Wise Giving Alliance
  • Federal Trade Commission
  • Forty states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico

Following are organizations that have filed briefs in support of Telemarketing Associates:

  • Disabled American Veterans
  • Free Speech Defense and Education Fund, Conservative Legal Defense and Education Fund, American Target Advertising, Eberle Communications Group, Gun Owners Foundation, English First, Lincoln Institute for Research and Education, and Citizens United Foundation
  • Independent Sector and 55 other nonprofit organizations, including the Advocacy Institute, Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations, and YMCA of the USA
  • Public Citizen, American Charities for Reasonable Fundraising Regulation, and 174 other nonprofit organizations, including America’s Second Harvest, Girls Incorporated, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving
  • Thirty-two commercial fund raisers and fund-raising consultants
