Bits: A Conference on Technology Assistance, Creating an Online Voter Guide, and Increasing Blood Donations

  • The Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network, a national organization for individuals, charities, and businesses that provide technology assistance to nonprofit groups, will hold two regional conferences this fall. The group will meet October 31-November 1 in Chicago, and November 19-20 in Boston. For more information: Go to http://www.nten.org.
  • The California Voter Foundation has published “How to Make an Online Voter Guide: Quick Tips for the Voter Educator,” a manual that discusses how to create, operate, and publicize an online voter guide, and offers nonprofit organizations advice on how to ensure that the guide is nonpartisan. The Davis, Calif., organization promotes the use of the Internet for voter education, and has published the California Online Voter Guide for every statewide election since 1994.   • The American Red Cross, in Washington, has teamed up with America Online, the Microsoft Corporation, and Yahoo to conduct an online campaign to raise awareness of the importance of giving blood. For more information: Go to http://blood.givelife.org.
