Step-by-Step Budgeting for Grant Seekers

March 7, 2002 | Read Time: 1 minute

Grant Seeker’s Budget Toolkit
by James Aaron Quick and Cheryl Carter New

The authors of this guide take a step-by-step look at the budgeting process, beginning with basic definitions and progressing to instructions on how to design a solid budget structure.

Chapters cover issues like project development, budget concepts and terms, personnel costs, and explanations of direct and indirect costs.

The book uses a show-and-tell strategy to define terms and concepts, displaying, for example, a budget form from a grant maker and discussing each element in it. A chapter on project development divides the process into four major steps and provides sample objectives and activity-analysis worksheets.

An accompanying CD-ROM contains supplemental forms, spreadsheets, and checklists.

Mr. Quick and Ms. New are president and chief executive officer, respectively, of Polaris Corporation, an Inman, S.C., company that helps charities obtain grants.
