Princeton U. to Receive $60-Million

Peter B. Lewis, an insurance executive and 1955 graduate of Princeton University, has pledged $60-million to the institution to build a science library and support its programs. Mr. Lewis is chairman of the board of the Progressive Corporation, an insurance company in Mayfield Village, Ohio.
The library will be designed by Frank O. Gehry, whose architectural designs include the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain.
Other big gifts:
Archdiocese of Boston: $10-million pledge from Peter Lynch, of Boston, a vice chairman at Fidelity Investments, and his wife, Carolyn, to support scholarships and programs at schools run by the archdiocese.
Bentley College (Waltham, Mass.): $8-million pledge from Robert F. Smith, the retired chairman of American Express Bank, in New York, and his wife, Miriam, for a capital campaign to create scholarships and professorships, build a new student center, and support other programs; and a $2-million pledge from Nathan R. Miller, a 1954 graduate who founded Nathan R. Miller Properties, in Boston, and his wife, Lillian, for the capital campaign.
Pasco Education Foundation (Land O’ Lakes, Fla.): $1-million in stocks from Walter Krysher, of Pasco, Fla., a real-estate developer, for teacher-training programs and scholarships.
U. of Arkansas (Fayetteville): $1-million pledge from Edwin G. Bradberry, president of B & B Resources, in Fayetteville, and his wife, Karlee, to create a business professorship.
