In the wake of a major financial crisis at the United Way of Santa Clara County, all 18 members of the board have agreed to resign by September 30 and be replaced with new trustees.
In May, the board fired executive director Eleanor Jacobs, after the organization found itself facing an estimated $11-million shortfall and on the verge of financial collapse (The Chronicle, May 20).
As many as four members may remain on the board on a temporary basis after September 30 to provide assistance to new board members during the transition.
The United Way of Santa Clara has also hired an interim executive director, Les White, a former city manager in San Jose.
