Foundation Reporter 2000: Comprehensive Profiles & Giving Analyses of America’s Major Private Foundations, 31st Edition
Edited by Bohdan Romaniuk and Lori Schoenenberger

This guide for grant seekers profiles nearly 1,000 private foundations that together have assets of more than $216-billion. To qualify for inclusion, foundations must either hold at least $10-million in assets or give away at least $500,000 annually.

A typical entry includes contact information, a summary of the foundation’s assets and how much it gave in the latest year for which data are available, its mission statement and geographic focus, and a breakdown showing what percentage of its grants go to particular fields. The profiles also list types of charities that typically receive grants, biographical information on officers and directors, application and review procedures, and a sampling of recent grants.

Indexes delineate foundations by state, location of grant recipient, type of support (such as general support, fellowships, or loans), recipient type (such as arts and humanities, education, health, or religion), donors, and application deadlines.

Lists of officers and directors are arranged in six categories, including by name, place of birth, alma mater, and corporate affiliation.

New to this edition are “Top 10″ lists that rank funds by total assets and by grant dollars awarded.
