Covenant House (New York): The Rev. Bruce Ritter, the founder who resigned amid a scandal in 1990, died on October 7. He was 72.

National Children’s Cancer Society (St. Louis): Appointed Laura Cortner, case manager, to be assistant director of patient and family services.
National Public Radio (Washington): Appointed Cheryle Robinson, acting director of corporate communications, to be vice-president of communications.
The Nature Conservancy-Arizona Chapter (Tucson): Appointed Christine Ewing, director of major gifts at Hospice of the Valley (Phoenix), to be director of development for central Arizona.
Northwest Center (Seattle): Appointed David Wunderlin, a small-business consultant based in Seattle, to be chief executive officer and executive director. He succeeds James McClurg, who is retiring from this center that offers educational, rehabilitative, and employment services to disabled people.
