Google Offers New Site for Nonprofit Groups

The Internet search company Google has opened a new portal for nonprofit groups that explains how to adopt Google features and software for charitable work. The available tools include an e-mail program, mapping software, blog software, tools to analyze Internet traffic, and a grants search engine, and all are available free for nonprofit groups.
As an example of how the features might be used, Google suggests that an environmental group could use the maps feature to take donors on a “virtual tour” of land it is trying to conserve. Or a group could use the calendar feature to help send reminders to donors about forthcoming events.
For nontechnical people, a video tutorial explains how each tool works. The pages also include instructions on how to set up accounts, and provide links to outside groups that have incorporated Google tools into their daily work.
