Leader to Leader
Edited by Frances Hesselbein and Paul M. Cohen
Drawing from the Leader to Leader quarterly journal published by the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management, in New York, this collection of 37 essays presents insights on the challenges and opportunities facing leaders in government, business, and the non-profit world.
The book is divided into seven sections: learning lessons from mentors, implementing change in organizations, taking advantage of information technology, competing in a global economy, leading at a high-performance level, assembling effective teams, and working with other leaders.
The contributors include Mr. Drucker, honorary chairman of the foundation, who writes of the men who most influenced his theories on management and life; the management guru Warren Bennis, who debunks the image of the leader as a “lone ranger” figure; and Regina Herzlinger, a professor of business administration at Harvard University, who urges government and charitable organizations to beef up their public-disclosure policies.
Ms. Hesselbein is chairman of the Board of Governors of the Drucker Foundation and editor-in-chief of Leader to Leader. Mr. Cohen is the publication’s managing editor.
