Steven Churchill, the association’s president and chief executive officer, will leave in October to serve as senior adviser and chief of staff at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing.

Building Educated Leaders for Life

Lauren Sanchez Gilbert, president and chief strategy officer at BELL, in Boston, has been promoted to chief executive.

The charity collaborates with school districts and national nonprofits, including The Y, in after-school and summer tutoring programs that serve 14,500 students a year.

Business Alliance for Local Living Economies

Rodney Foxworth, founder and chief executive of Invested Impact, a consulting firm in Baltimore, was named executive director of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies. He replaces founding executive director Michelle Long, who announced in May that she was leaving to start a new organization.

Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan

Dave Bartek has been promoted from chief operating officer to chief executive of the human-service agency. He joined the group in 2016 as director of immigration and refugee resettlement programs.

Student Press Law Center

Hadar Harris, a human-rights lawyer and executive director of the Northern California Innocence Project, has become the center’s new executive director. The Washington organization offers free legal advice to student journalists and college newspapers.

WomenCorporateDirectors

Susan Keating has been named to head the organization, replacing the group’s founder, Susan Stautberg, who is stepping down at 17 years in the leadership role. Ms. Keating was previously president and CEO of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling.

New Top Fundraisers

Sean Campbell, managing director of individual giving at the University of Chicago Medicine, has been named vice president for advancement at Skidmore College.

Virginia Clark has been named vice president for external relations at the National Constitution Center. She previously served as assistant secretary for advancement of the Smithsonian Institution.

Julie Diaz will be chief advancement officer of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. Previously, she held the same position at the Greenhill School.

Anne K. Gerson will be counsel in the nonprofit organizations practice at the law firm Venable, serving in both its New York and Washington offices. Previously she was counsel at Carter Ledyard & Milburn, in New York.

Nancy Oliver Gray, president of Hollins University in Virginia, was appointed senior consultant at Gonser Gerber, a fundraising consulting company.

Adrienne Longenecker, director of development and marketing at Thinkery, joined Hill Country Conservancy, in Austin, Texas, as chief operating officer and director of development.

Derek Madsen, chief executive of the Winona YMCA, in Minnesota, has been named executive vice president for resource development at CommonBond Communities in St. Paul.

Rebecca Tann has been named chief development officer of the Orange County United Way, in California. Previously she was vice president of sales and marketing at Life Time Fitness.

Other Notable Appointments

David Austin, a program director at the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, has been appointed to serve on the management team of the executive director’s office for the World Food Program.

Michael Ruetz has been promoted to deputy chief investment officer of the Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies. The philanthropies include the Anne Ray Foundation and the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation. In addition to his new role, he will continue to serve as investment director of risk management and asset allocation.

Valerie Russo, vice president for strategy and excellence of the Children’s Aid Society, has returned to New York Foundling as chief operating officer. She previously worked at the social-service organization for children and families in 2004 as director of planning.

Departures

Jed Margolis, executive director of Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel, will retire after 16 years at the helm on December 31.
