New Top Fundraiser at National Trust for Historic Preservation; Meyer Trust CEO to Step Down

National Trust for Historic Preservation

Jon Kevin Gossett was appointed the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s first chief advancement officer and will lead its newly formed advancement division, which comprises eight existing departments.

Mr. Gossett will join the organization from the Bipartisan Policy Center, where he has worked as senior vice president for external relations. He previously held executive fundraising posts at St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Foundation, American Public Media, and the Houston Grand Opera.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation works to save historic places, such as monuments, historic buildings, and landscapes.

Meyer Memorial Trust

Doug Stamm, who has served as chief executive of the Meyer Memorial Trust since 2002, announced plans to step down early next year. The grant maker reported $788.5 million in assets in fiscal year 2015, according to its most recently available informational tax return.

Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium

David Bobbitt, former president of Score Foundation, has joined the nonprofit as its chief executive. He has succeeded its founder, Rebecca Daniels Kush, who served at the helm for 20 years.

Credential Engine

Scott Cheney will be the first executive director of Credential Engine, a new nonprofit that seeks to improve transparency of programs that grant degrees, certificates, badges, and other credentials. Mr. Cheney most recently served as policy director of work-force and economic development for the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

International Society for Technology in Education

Richard Culatta, chief innovation officer for the State of Rhode Island, was named chief executive.

Keep America Beautiful

Helen Lowman, director of individual and community preparedness at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, was named chief executive of Keep America Beautiful.

Other notable appointments

Simintha Esson, managing director of strategic partnerships at the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, was appointed chief development officer at the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

Joel Sutherland, national director of development, was promoted to executive director of the National Ataxia Foundation.

Departure

Audrey Weiner, who has served as chief executive of the New Jewish Home for 15 years, will retire on December 31. However, she will continue to serve as president the nonprofit’s fundraising arm, Fund for the Aged, on a part-time basis.

Legacy

Pino Cicala, a founder of the National Italian American Foundation, died on April 10 after battling cancer. Mr. Cicala worked as an architect for 30 years. He retired as president of Watergate Architectural Interiors.

Thomas Wolanin, who served as a senior associate at the Institute for Higher Education for 20 years starting in 1996, died on April 2. He was 75.
