Grants Roundup: Ohio State U. Gets $39 Million to Boost Veterinary Program

A roundup of notable gifts compiled by The Chronicle:
Stanton Foundation
$39 million to the College of Veterinary Medicine at Ohio State University.
The two-stage grant includes $19 million to fund 20 faculty and staff positions, build a new clinical laboratory, and purchase a mobile veterinary-care unit. If certain milestones are met, the foundation will provide another $20 million to create an endowment for veterinary education.
Walton Family Foundation
$10 million to the University of the Ozarks for a scholarship program for students from low- and middle-income families.
Kresge Foundation
$1.7 million to the Nonprofit Finance Fund’s new “Healthy Outcomes” project, which will provide advice, financial support, and other help to human-services providers that work with health-care organizations.
George Lucas Family Foundation
$1.5 million to the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass. The museum will use the money to create a visual gallery tour and other multimedia experiences for visitors and develop educational and online materials.
New grant opportunity:
IBM announced a new program to provide cloud hosting, software, and training to nonprofits. The company plans to make 12 grants a year for five years and estimates the value of each award at about $300,000. More information is available here.
