In the third episode of Season 3 of the Center for Effective Philanthropy’s Giving Done Right podcast, hosts Phil Buchanan and Grace Nicolette are joined by philanthropist and restauranteur April Tam Smith, co-founder of P.S. Kitchen, a vegan restaurant in Manhattan that donates 100 percent of its profits to charity. They talk about Smith’s unique approach to giving, including her family’s commitment to contributing up to 90 percent of their income to charitable causes in what’s been called a “reverse tithe.” They also discuss Smith’s experience balancing philanthropic pursuits with a career in finance and how to find purpose and friendship as a donor.

We appreciate the opportunity to share this podcast and want to note that the interview was conducted by Buchanan and Nicolette with no involvement from the Chronicle’s newsroom.
