April 30, 2014
More than 30 philanthropies and corporations announced Wednesday a pledge of more than $170-million over five years to aid veterans and military families, according to a Council on Foundations news release.
The Philanthropy-Joining Forces Impact Pledge was started by Blue Shield of California Foundation, the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation, the Lincoln Community Foundation, and the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, organizations with a history of supporting programs that “create affordable housing, provide new health interventions, address domestic violence, and expand economic opportunities for veterans and military families,” said Vikki Spruill, president of the Council on Foundations.
