Property mogul Conrad Prebys is donating $20-million to San Diego State University to create a scholarship fund that will assist 150 students a year, U-T San Diego reports.

The gift was announced Wednesday at an opening ceremony for the campus’s new student center, which was named for Mr. Prebys. The scholarship program will launch in the fall and aid several groups of students, among them former foster children, veterans, and those pursuing biomedical research and engineering.

Mr. Prebys has donated more than $130-million to San Diego-area educational, health, and cultural institutions since 2005, including $45-million in 2011 to build a cardiovascular institute at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, Calif.
