Fundraising Curbs Might Not Cover All Clinton Charities

The Clinton Health Access Initiative and some other Clinton Foundation subsidiaries might still take gifts from foreign actors and corporations if Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is elected president, reports The Boston Globe.

Trustees of the health initiative, which accounted for two-thirds of the foundation’s spending in 2014, plan to meet soon to discuss whether they should cut off such fundraising, a move that would likely gut its operating revenue and its work battling HIV/AIDS and malaria around the globe. Two other Clinton-tied charities — the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership — say they are not affected by the potential giving restrictions announced last week by the foundation proper.

Ms. Clinton has been dogged on the campaign trail by accusations that under her leadership, the State Department gave favorable treatment to big Clinton Foundation donors. Critics have also said the foundation’s activities would create at least the appearance of conflicts of interest for a Hillary Clinton administration.
