September 9, 2008
Officials at the Entertainment Industry Foundation, in Los Angeles, say their Stand Up to Cancer celebrity fund-raising event has helped to raise $100-million for research on cancer treatment, reports Reuters.
Foundation officials said the television show was also seen in more than 170 nations. The effort, which was started by the foundation in May, is focused on accelerating research into new cancer treatments and diminishing cancer’s standing as a leading cause of death.
