A Step-by-Step Guide for Donors Setting Up a Planned Gift

February 27, 2015 | Read Time: 1 minute

This series of documents, which can be shared in person or sent by mail or electronically, serves as a step-by-step guide to creating an estate plan and making a planned gift to the Ocean Conservancy. The organization provides these materials to donors who have expressed an interest in making a planned gift.

The packet has six parts, beginning with a quiz that encourages donors to consider their estate plans and ending with a worksheet that helps donors evaluate their assets before meeting with a financial adviser.

It also includes sample bequest language, including the Ocean Conservancy’s tax ID number, which donors can share with their lawyer and other advisers who help them draft their wills.
