Coronavirus-Related Giving Tops $10 Billion Worldwide

Philanthropic funding worldwide in response to Covid-19 has reached $10.2 billion, including $6 billion from U.S. sources, according to Candid, a foundation research group.
The figures from Candid include giving by companies, foundations, and individuals.
The top donor on Candid’s list is Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, who gave $1 billion to Start Small, the limited-liability company he started in 2015 to serve communities in need.
The new tally from Candid shows a tenfold increase in coronavirus-related giving since early March. The money was distributed from 652 sources to 2,161 recipients.
Of the total, $829 million was distributed to recipients based in the United States.
