Charity Founded by Ex-Penn State Coach Jerry Sandusky to Fold

The Second Mile, the youth charity founded by the former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, announced Friday that it plans to close and transfer its programs to a Texas nonprofit, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The charity has been facing trouble ever since Mr. Sandusky was charged with sexually abusing children, including clients of the Second Mile.

The Second Mile asked a court in Pennsylvania for permission to transfer the programs as well as $2-million in cash to Arrow Child & Family Ministries, a Houston nonprofit. Even if the court agrees, the charity said it would continue to be a legal entity and cooperate with investigations of possible wrongdoing.
