February 2, 2006
The Johns Hopkins University has received a $100-million gift from an anonymous donor for its medical and undergraduate programs, The Baltimore Sun reports. The donation, which is among the largest in the institution’s history, will be used to renovate a major academic building, construct the Children’s Tower at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and support projects at the School of Public Health. The money will also pay for stem-cell research at the university, including projects to create embryonic stem-cell lines.
