$17-Million Donation Changes Name of Ohio Jewish School

August 26, 2015

A Cleveland-area Jewish day school has been renamed for area philanthropists Joseph and Florence Mandel in honor of a $17-million gift from their family foundation, The Plain Dealer writes.

Announcing the donation Tuesday, officials at the former Agnon School in Beachwood, Ohio, said the money would fund numerous building improvements, higher pay for all faculty and staff, and improved education programs, including an expansion of the school’s Hebrew Immersion Program and the addition of a full-time gifted-and-talented specialist to work with teachers on curricula.
