2 Nonprofit Government Watchdogs Merge

March 21, 2016

The nonprofit government watchdog Center for Effective Government is being folded into the Project on Government Oversight, trade magazine Government Executive reports.

The Center for Effective Government, which was known until January 2013 as OMB Watch, was started in 1983 as an independent monitor of the Office of Management and Budget. It published papers and commentary on topics including government transparency and agency performance, among other things.

The Project on Government Oversight conducts investigations and publishes studies on wasteful government programs, contractor fraud, and whistle-blowers.
