$20-Million Donation Boosts U. of Chicago Policy School

November 6, 2014 | Read Time: 1 minute

The University of Chicago has received $32.5-million in gifts to support expansion of its Harris School of Public Policy, including a $20-million contribution from Dennis Keller, co-founder of for-profit education firm DeVry, the Chicago Tribune reports. The funds will support the school’s move into a larger building, a renovated former residence hall that will be rechristened the Keller Center.

The gifts, announced Wednesday, buttress the university’s efforts to expand and chart a new direction for the policy school under Dean Daniel Diermeier, who took office in September. In addition to the donation from Mr. Keller, a university trustee, the school received $12.5-million from the family of its late patron and namesake, Irving B. Harris.
