3 Major Boston Museums Looking for New Leaders

March 18, 2015 | Read Time: 1 minute

Directors at three of the Boston area’s biggest museums are leaving their posts in the near future, raising questions about the changing role of museum directors and the future of the city’s cultural landscape, WBUR reports.

Experts interviewed for the piece see the changes as an opportunity but add that new museum directors will face challenges including audience expectations, changes in foundation support, and a pressure to expand.

Anne Hawley of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Thomas Lentz of the Harvard Art Museums, and Malcolm Rogers of the Museum of Fine Arts will all be stepping down soon.
