More than $500,000 has been channeled to a wildlife charity established by Steve Irwin, the star of The Crocodile Hunter television show who was killed in an accident last week, reports ABC News.
Mr. Irwin, who died on Monday after a stingray barb pierced his heart, founded Wildlife Warriors Worldwide in 2002 with his wife, Terri, to protect injured, threatened, and endangered wildlife.
In the days since his death, so many fans of Mr. Irwin have wanted to make gifts that the charity has not been able to keep up. Michael Hornby, manager of the Australian charity, said that “e-mails are just sitting there waiting for us and we are yet to open all the mail donations that are actually just piling up right now.”
