The Mount Sinai School of Medicine, in New York, has received $75-million from the Frederick and Sharon Klingenstein Fund.
Mr. Klingenstein, a financier and investment adviser, served on the school’s Boards of Trustees for nearly three decades. He and his family directed $50-million to establish a medical-science institute for laboratory and clinical research, and the remaining $25-million to endow scholarships.
The scholarship fund will honor Mr. Klingenstein’s late father, Joseph, who was chairman of the Boards of Trustees from 1962 to 1969.
The gift ranks as the 36th highest to higher education since 1967, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education.
