A Thousand Words: Photos From the Field
by Stacy Twilley

This coffee table book features 255 vivid photographs documenting the 25 years that International Medical Corps, a charity that provides medical assistance to people affected by war, disease, and natural disasters, has been in existence. Taken by the charity’s doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers, as well as photojournalists, the photographs depict humanitarian crises all over the world, including Bosnia, Iraq, Rwanda, and Somalia.

Stacy Twilley, a writer and photographer, divides the pictures into six areas: global health, war-torn nations, refugee relief, disaster response, the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and food and water. The book also includes a foreword by CNN correspondent Christiane Amanpour.

Publisher: Three Hawks Press, 137 North Larchmont Boulevard, Number 412, Los Angeles, Calif. 90004; 311 pages; ISBN 978-0-615-25937-6.
