A Peek at the Job Histories of Grant Makers

February 10, 2000 | Read Time: 1 minute

111 Visionary Program Officers: A Who’s Who of Progressive Foundations, by Mac McLean and Michael Shuman, publishes the resumes of grant makers who participated in a survey intended to shed light on their backgrounds. Each entry lists the person’s employment history, education, honors and awards, political activities, and publications, along with basic contact and financial information for the institutions where they work. Of roughly 1,000 program officers contacted, the 111 people who agreed to be listed “deserve enormous credit for their willingness to go public,” writes Mr. Shuman, co-director of the Institute for Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, in Washington. “They understand the importance and value of sharing information, holding themselves accountable, and making themselves more accessible to grantees . …” Publisher: Progressive Resources Publications, P.O.
