For general support of basic services for people living in poverty: $100,000 to MEND (Los Angeles).
FEINSTEIN FOUNDATION
To purchase and renovate a larger facility for the Mechanicsburg, Pa., location of this organization that provides services to people with basic needs: $1-million matching grant to New Hope Ministries (Dillsburg, Pa.).
WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST FOUNDATION
For two centers that help chronically homeless people: $100,000 to the Lord’s Place (West Palm Beach, Fla.).
LEONA AND HARRY B. HELMSLEY CHARITABLE TRUST
To construct a four-unit multifamily housing project for homeless people: $690,000 to St. Francis House (Sioux Falls, S.D.).
NORFOLK FOUNDATION
To develop permanent supportive housing for homeless adults in Portsmouth, Va.: $400,000 over two years to Virginia Supportive Housing (Richmond).
WOODS CHARITABLE FUND
For general operating support of this organization that provides lowincome people with services, support, and advocacy: $90,000 over three years to Lincoln Action Program (Neb.).
