To strengthen organizations that provide health services to uninsured people in Colorado: $4,500,000 to be divided among 14 organizations.
IOWA WEST FOUNDATION
To meet the basic needs of local families: $50,000 to the Salvation Army of Council Bluffs.
JEWISH COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF LOS ANGELES
To provide immediate assistance to individuals and families: $250,000 to the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.
KRESGE FOUNDATION
To provide foreclosure-prevention advocacy in Detroit and other Michigan communities: $442,500 over 23 months to Legal Services of South Central Michigan (Ann Arbor).
LILLY ENDOWMENT
To help provide basics such as food and shelter: $1,500,000 to the United Way of Central Indiana (Indianapolis).
MCKNIGHT FOUNDATION
To strengthen communities in Minnesota affected by the foreclosure crisis: $10,000,000 program-related investment to be shared by the Family Housing Fund (Minneapolis) and the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund (St. Paul).
MISSOURI FOUNDATION FOR HEALTH
For a food pantry for low-income families: $80,000 over two years to Circle of Concern (Valley Park, Mo.).
MONTGOMERY COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
To help children, families, and senior citizens affected by the recession: $440,000 to be divided among 46 nonprofit organizations in Maryland’s Montgomery County.
OPEN SOCIETY
To provide basic support to needy people in New York City: $50,000,000 challenge grant to the Robin Hood Foundation (New York).
ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
To provide food, shelter, and critical aid to families, children, and older people affected by the economic crisis: $832,500 to be divided among 32 nonprofit organizations in California’s Orange County.
PGE FOUNDATION
To provide food to people in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Counties: $50,000 to the Oregon Food Bank (Portland).
SILICON VALLEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
For efforts to help needy people: $1,000,000 to be divided among food and shelter organizations in California’s San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties.
