The actress Jada Pinkett Smith has donated $1-million to her alma mater, the Baltimore School for the Arts, reports The Sun, in Baltimore.
The gift, from the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation, in Baltimore, will support the school’s expansion and renovation efforts.
“She credits the School for the Arts for really giving her her start and was impressed by the things they’ve been doing and the way they’ve grown,” said Ms. Smith’s aunt, Karen Banfield Evans, executive director of the Smith Family Foundation.
The school’s theater will be dedicated to Tupac Shakur, the late rapper and a friend of Ms. Smith’s. Mr. Shakur also attended the School for the Arts, which is a public magnet high school.
