AID IN CHECHNYA

Chechnya has banned Danish aid organizations from working in the Muslim-dominated region after a Danish newspaper published a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammad, reports the Reuters Foundation’s AlertNet. The Danish Refugee Council has been among the organizations leading the effort to help refugees displaced by the 11-year Chechen separatist war. It was not immediately clear how the ban would affect the charity’s work.
