AIDS ACTIVIST
February 6, 2006
Victor Mooney, a 41-year-old public affairs official from Brooklyn, built a 24-foot boat that he plans to row across the Atlantic Ocean to raise money and call attention to AIDS prevention, reports The New York Times. In dedication to Cardinal John O’Connor of New York, Mr. Mooney hopes to begin his voyage off the coast of Senegal in March. One of his brothers died of complications from AIDS in 1983; another brother has the disease.
