Airbnb.org Appoints Next Executive Director

Christoph Gorder has been tapped as the new executive director of the short-term rental company’s charitable arm.
He previously served as chief global water officer at Charity:Water.

Karen Rundlet will become its CEO on January 8. Most recently she was senior director for the journalism program at the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
Rundlet will succeed Sue Cross, who has led the group since 2015.
Latino Community Foundation
Julián Castro will start as its CEO on January 1. Prior to running for president in 2020, he served as secretary of housing and urban development under President Barack Obama from 2014 until 2017.
He will succeed Jacqueline Martinez Garcel, who is stepping down after eight years at the helm of this foundation that has raised $100 million to bolster the civic and political power of Latino youths and families in California.

Prosperity Now
Marisa Calderon will be the next president and CEO of this organization that advances racial and ethnic economic equity. She was most recently executive director of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition’s Community Development Fund and will begin her new role on January 2.
Calderon will replace Cherie Collins Sims, who has served as its interim leader since June, following Gary Cunningham’s departure. Collins Sims will now return to her role as chief strategy and innovation officer.
More New CEOs
Bill Alexander, interim CEO of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund for the past five months, will continue in the role permanently. A retired law-enforcement officer, he was previously executive director of the memorial for two years.
Bethany Cartledge has become executive director of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County, which operates in Oregon and California. She follows Terry McDonald, who joined the human-services organization in 1971 and became its executive director in 1984 when he succeeded his late father, H.C. (Mac) McDonald.
Amanda Kibler, education director at the Coterie Theatre, is now executive director at What If Puppets, a puppet theater in Kansas City, Mo.
Taryn Palumbo, executive director of Orange County Grantmakers, will remain leader of the group following its merger with the Orange County Nonprofit Professionals Network. The combined organization will operate as Orange County Grantmakers.
Melissa Stafford Jones, director of the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative at the California Health and Human Services Agency, has been named CEO and president of the Public Health Institute.
Angela White, a senior consultant and CEO of the strategic and philanthropic consulting firm Johnson, Grossnickle, and Associates, will become executive vice president at the Eskenazi Health Foundation on August 5, 2024. She will work alongside its president and CEO, Ernie Vargo II, and then succeed him when he retires on January 15, 2026.
Other Notable Appointments
Monica Brown will join the Arizona Community Foundation as chief people officer, beginning January 16. Most recently she worked at the Cleveland Foundation as its vice president for human resources, building operations, and guest services.
Michael Dabbs, director of strategy at the Gill Foundation, has been promoted to senior director of impact. In addition, Steph Perkins has been promoted from program officer to senior director of programs. They will replace Heidi Overbeck, who is stepping down as chief strategy officer to start her own consulting practice.
Richard Hart has joined the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy as industry director. He was previously program manager at Cascade Energy, where he led the development of strategic energy management in California.
Marie Richardson, acting project director at Bronx Legal Services since 2019, has been appointed to the position on a permanent basis.
Paris Woods will be StriveTogether’s first chief program officer. Most recently she was chief of programs for YouthForce NOLA, in New Orleans.
